Annotation Layers

Use the Annotation Layers pane to manage annotation layers on a document.

Each user has one annotation layer per document. You can add multiple annotations to your layer. You cannot edit another user's layer unless you merge it into your layer.

To hide a layer, select Hide. To show the layer again, select Hide again.

Edit a layer name

Select Annotation Layers on the Annotate tab or the Redact tab.
On the My Annotations header bar, open the menu.
Select Edit Name.
Enter the new name.
Select elsewhere in the window.

Save an annotation layer

Select Annotation Layers on the Annotate tab or the Redact tab.
On the My Annotations header bar, open the menu.
Select Save Annotations.
In the Save As field, enter a name.
Select Save.

Delete an annotation layer

Select Annotation Layers on the Annotate tab or the Redact tab.
On the My Annotations header bar, open the menu.
Select Delete Annotations.
Select Confirm.

Load annotation layers

Select Annotation Layers on the Annotate tab or the Redact tab.
On the Annotations for Review header bar, open the menu.
Select Load Annotations.
In the Select annotations for review table, select the check boxes for the annotations to load. To select all annotations, select Toggle All.
Select Done.

Merge annotation layers

You can merge one or more annotation layers into your annotation layer. After you merge another user's annotations into your layer, you can edit those annotations. The other user can still see and edit their original annotation layer.

You cannot unmerge annotation layers. Merge layers only if you are certain you want to merge them.

Select Annotation Layers on the Annotate tab or the Redact tab.
On the Annotations for Review header bar, open the menu.
Merge layers in one of these ways:
- To merge all loaded layers, select Merge All Annotations.
- To merge selected layers, select Merge Annotations, select the layers to merge, and then select Merge Selected to My Annotations.
